Hubbs loves his slippers and has worn them every day since they FINALLY dried. It took 3 days for them to fully dry. Wool holds a ton of water! I even put them on the heat registers in hopes that the warm air would dry them faster without shrinking them like throwing them in the dryer would.

I’ve also made a pair for our daughter, and am nearly finished the pair for Leslie’s daughter. My daughter’s are pink and I used some of the leftover blue print on the cuffs. They need to be sewn and felted. Leslie’s daughter’s slippers are nearly finished. I have half of one top plus the cuffs to go. She has a thing for mismatched socks (you can get socks that, for example, have dark blue stars with a white background on one sock, and the opposite on the other sock) so I’m making her mismatched slippers! I’m just going to felt both pairs of kid’s slippers at the same time, and yes, I’ll post pictures.

I also have plans to make myself another headwarmer (aka calorimetry). They’re fantastic for those of us who need to keep their hair up most of the time because unlike a hat, it won’t mess your updo. I wore my purple one today. Someday I’ll post a picture. Anyway, I’m making a green one, and matching scarves. I will do a longer version of the Climbing Trellis scarf in the purple and a Bramble Stitch scarf in the green.

Knitting the slippers has given me a lot of confidence in reading patterns, so I am also going to knit a tunic for my daughter and a sweater for myself. Maybe I’m too ambitious, but I have really fallen in love with knitting. I do still have that hat to finish for my friend, as well as two shawls, but the shawls can wait since they’re really easy to do. In fact, I may just save them for something to do while waiting for my daughter at school since they’re mindless.

Last week, my husband went out of town overnight on business, so since our daughter was still off school, my friend Leslie and her daughter came over for a sleepover. Leslie brought her sewing machine and we made stuff for our girls. I made PJ’s for my daughter, and Leslie made her daughter a mess of pants. What fun! I adore our craft dates, even moreso now that she has her own machine… this way we can both sew at the same time.
