Knitting bag – the finale June 24, 2008

I finished my knitting bag!!! If I’d known that the boning wasn’t stiff enough, I’d have doubled it up. The sides aren’t quite rigid enough for my liking, but I don’t want to take the whole thing apart. The frame was a bitch to put together, and I don’t want to take it apart because I suspect that will be even harder than putting it together.

Had I known that the frames are available up to 18″, I probably would have gotten a 16″ frame instead of 14″, but I do think that the bag is big enough for me as it is. I just need to figure out a way to make the sides more rigid. I’m actually considering inserting a piece of wooden dowel down the sides. Hmm.

fabricland has this plastic stuff for making fabric bowls to keep their shape- I’m wondering if that material would work well ? I know in the notions dept there, they have lots of handbag accessory makings, etc…worth a shot?
